Effective October 26, 2026. Provided by MEISHENG TECHNOLOGY.
The Chinese version of these terms is a translation provided for convenience. If the two versions differ, this English version controls.
About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and MEISHENG TECHNOLOGY, a California corporation (California Secretary of State entity no. 6276507), 15627 Palomino Dr, Chino Hills, CA 91709 ("we" or "us"). They cover your use of the MeiSheng Call app (美声翻译电话). By using MeiSheng Call, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
MeiSheng Call is an interpreting app. You speak Chinese, and an AI voice says it in English to the person you call. You hear that person's own voice and see captions in Chinese and English.
MeiSheng Call is not a telephone service and does not replace one. It only places calls; it cannot receive calls.
MeiSheng Call is not a medical service and does not give medical advice. It helps you with everyday calls such as appointments, bills and insurance questions.
You can call only U.S. phone numbers in the 50 states and Washington, D.C.
The numbers and details in Common Offices in Contacts are compiled by us from each organization's official website, which has the final word; they may be out of date or wrong. MeiSheng Call is not an official app of these organizations and is not affiliated with them. This content is not tax, immigration, legal or medical advice: we don't decide whether you qualify or what you should apply for, and we don't fill out forms for you.
While we are testing, MeiSheng Call is free and by invitation only. Each user can talk up to 60 minutes a day, one call at a time. Minutes count from when the other side answers, including time on hold. We may change these limits, change the app, or stop offering it.
Not for emergencies
Do not use MeiSheng Call in an emergency.
If you enter 911 in MeiSheng Call, the app hands the call to your iPhone's own Phone app. MeiSheng Call does not carry that call. If your iPhone has no cellular service, the handoff may fail. In an emergency, dial 911 directly from a phone.
Calling is offered only on iPhones that can use a cellular network.
Who can use it
MeiSheng Call is only for people 18 years old or older. Anyone under 18 may not use it. Do not let anyone under 18 use your account or MeiSheng Call on your phone.
You must be in the United States.
You need a Meisheng Account and, while we are testing, an invitation.
Use MeiSheng Call only for your own calls about your own matters.
You are responsible for what you ask the app to say for you.
How calls work
By using MeiSheng Call, you understand and agree that:
On every call, the first time you speak, our English opening message plays to the other person first (about 15 seconds). It gives our name, tells them how to stop our calls (press 9, or call our toll-free do-not-call line), says that an AI interpreter is on the line and that the call is recorded and transmitted to a service provider for transcription, and tells them to hang up if they object. You cannot turn this message off or change it.
If the call is transferred and a new person comes on the line, the message plays again for that person.
What you say and what the other side says are sent to cloud service providers to be turned into text, translated and spoken. Our Privacy Policy lists these providers, what they get, how they use it, and how long they keep it. Twilio, which connects the calls, also uses call content for some purposes of its own under its terms; the Privacy Policy describes them. We keep the transcript for 30 days, unless you delete it sooner.
If you mark a call as medical or insurance, the other side must press 1 to agree. If they do not, the call ends and is not transcribed.
We check every number when you dial. We will not use AI interpreting for some calls, including calls to mobile phones, toll-free numbers, pay-per-call numbers and emergency lines, and we will not call numbers whose owners asked not to get our calls. Toll-free numbers can be called only in Institution Interpreter Mode, described in the next section. A landline number can get at most 3 calls with our AI voice in any 30 days, counting all users together.
You decide whether a person, an automated system or a voicemail answered; the opening message plays only when you first speak. From the moment the call is answered until the opening message has finished, if we hear a voicemail beep we hang up automatically, and you cannot override this.
You may save your own and your family members' details in My Info. To discuss a family member's health or insurance, use the family consent process: on those calls the app says only the details of the family member you chose when dialing, who has agreed. A family member's details are said with their English name; you may not pretend to be that family member. When the other side asks, the app asks you first every time, and the detail is said only if you tap Allow.
If the other side clearly does not understand English, you can tap the button for that (对方听不懂英语,挂断) to end the call.
The other side may hang up, press 9, or refuse to talk with an AI voice.
If something goes wrong on our side after the opening message has played (for example, translation or the voice stops working), the call is not ended and the app tells you. From that moment until you hang up, the call uses no minutes, even if things start working again (during testing, that time doesn't count toward your daily limit either), and minutes already counted are put back into the kind they came from after you hang up. If something goes wrong before the opening message has finished, the call ends and uses no minutes. A problem with the number you called (for example, a disconnected number or a rejected call) is not a problem on our side. To prevent abuse, each account gets this for at most 3 calls and 60 minutes a day; beyond that, minutes are used as usual, and if you think that was wrong, email support@meishengcall.com and we'll check and restore them.
Institution Interpreter Mode
When you call a toll-free number such as an 800 or 888 number (or an organization that says it will not talk with AI), MeiSheng Call uses Institution Interpreter Mode; for some organizations' numbers on our list, you can also choose it. In this mode, you are the one talking to the other side. MeiSheng Call only dials for you, presses keys for you during the phone menu and shows the menu on your phone; once a person answers, you ask the other side for their own interpreter.
Whether the other side provides an interpreter, and whether it will discuss your account on the phone, is up to them; MeiSheng Call does not guarantee it. The other side sees MeiSheng Call's number, not your phone number.
This mode is currently open only to invited team members for testing. Do not use this mode to call many people, sell anything, redial automatically, fake caller ID or pretend to be someone else.
Calls in this mode (toll-free numbers, and organizations' numbers for which you chose this mode) use one minute for every two minutes, and each call can last up to 3 hours. When the time is up, the call ends automatically; MeiSheng Call cannot tell the other side first.
Caller ID and callbacks
Calls usually show our number, +1 520-666-3008. If the other side calls that number back, they reach our automated greeting and voicemail, not you.
Rules
You must not use MeiSheng Call to:
make sales, marketing or promotional calls;
call numbers from a list, call many people with the same message, or redial automatically;
call on behalf of a business, clinic, insurer or other organization to its customers, patients or members;
harass, threaten, frighten or mislead anyone, or commit fraud;
pretend to be someone else, or pretend that the AI voice is a person;
fake caller ID, or make illegal automated or prerecorded calls (robocalls);
make emergency calls;
give or ask for health information about another person who can be identified, unless that person has agreed on MeiSheng Call's family consent page themselves, has not withdrawn, and you chose them when placing the call;
break any law, including laws about phone calls, recording and privacy.
You also must not:
try to get around our number checks, the opening message, the call limits, phone-number verification or our security;
copy, screenshot or screen-record On-Device Captions (the Chinese captions of what the other person says that appear on your phone before the opening message), photograph them with another device, or save or share them. On-Device Captions are only for you to read during the call. Doing so may break recording laws where the other person is, and you are responsible for the consequences; claims that result are covered by the section below on claims caused by your breaking the rules.
copy, take apart or reverse-engineer the app, or overload our systems;
let someone else use your account, or sell or rent access to MeiSheng Call.
Before you can make calls, you need to verify your phone number in your Meisheng Account. Each account has limits on calls to outside phone numbers (currently 5 calls per 10 minutes, 30 calls a day, and at most 15 different numbers a day; calls between MeiSheng Call users do not count). If an account's calls look unusual, we may disable the account and end a call in progress.
Profile photos, names, messages (MeiSheng Chat), reporting and blocking
The photo, name and MeiSheng ID you set are stored in your Meisheng Account. Other MeiSheng Call users can see your name and MeiSheng ID when they find you or chat with you; only people you have been connected with on a call, have exchanged messages with, or who added you as a friend with your QR code can see your photo.
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Do not use sexual, violent, hateful, infringing, impersonating or otherwise objectionable images or words as your photo, name or MeiSheng ID, and do not use MeiSheng Call to harass, threaten or abuse anyone.
MeiSheng Chat is currently open only to invited team members. You can send messages to other MeiSheng Call users. Someone who has not been in touch with you can send you at most 3 messages until you reply or tap Accept. Each person can message at most 20 new contacts a day who have not replied to them, and send at most 500 messages a day. Do not use messages to send ads in bulk, harass anyone or pretend to be someone else.
Photos and voice messages can be sent only to people you have accepted each other with (both of you have sent messages, tapped Accept or added each other by QR code); the 3 messages a stranger can send must be text.
We have zero tolerance for child sexual exploitation. Do not send, request or share child sexual exploitation material, do not entice minors, and do not send intimate photos or videos of anyone without their consent. If we find such content, we will report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) as the law requires, preserve the related materials, and close the account, including the same Meisheng Account, without giving a reason.
Share your QR code only with people you are willing to add as friends: Require Approval to Add Me is off by default, so anyone who has your QR code becomes your friend as soon as they add you but can't send you photos or voice messages until you reply; if you turn it on in Settings, they must send a friend request and become your friend only if you accept; if you turn off QR Code, scanning can't add you. To stop getting requests, reset your QR code; the old one stops working right away. You can block or report people who have already added you.
MeiSheng Chat messages are end-to-end encrypted; we cannot read or recover their content. When law enforcement lawfully asks, we can provide only what we can see (who and whom, when, and IP records) and content someone has reported to us.
Your chat history is kept only on the two phones and goes with your phone's backup; if you switch phones without restoring a backup, it is gone. Deleting a message on your phone does not delete the copy already delivered to the other person.
You can report a message, a friend request note, a photo, name or MeiSheng ID in the app, and you can block someone: after a block, they cannot send you messages or call you in MeiSheng Call, and neither of you sees the other's name or photo; for now, a block does not stop them from calling or texting your virtual phone number from a regular phone. A block follows the other person's Meisheng Account: if they delete their MeiSheng Call data and come back, they are still blocked; if they delete their whole Meisheng Account and sign up again, you need to block them again. If you delete your MeiSheng Call data, your blocks are deleted too. You can also report by email to support@meishengcall.com.
We act on reports within 24 hours: we remove objectionable content, and we may disable the account of anyone who posts it or harasses others, or stop them from changing their photo or name.
Referrals and free minutes
Each account has a referral code. When a friend uses MeiSheng Call for the first time and enters your code (or uses a link you shared) with a phone number, they get 15 free minutes, valid for 10 days.
After they finish their first real call (connected for at least 60 seconds; practice calls do not count, and neither do calls to your own numbers, meaning your MeiSheng Call number or your phone number), you get 15 minutes. Your unused referral rewards share one expiration date: the first reward expires after 10 days, and each later successful referral moves that date 10 days later; if your earlier rewards have already expired, the new one lasts 10 days from the day it arrives. Each person can earn rewards for up to 10 referrals a month, counted by the month (Pacific time) in which the reward arrives.
You get 10 minutes, valid for 10 days, the first time you open MeiSheng Call; with a referral code, 15 minutes in total. This is given once per account, even if you delete your MeiSheng Call data and come back. Invitations sent before the app is on the App Store earn rewards under these rules once it launches; links created then are valid for 30 days from launch day. A referral code must be entered within 7 days of first using MeiSheng Call and before your first real call, and only once.
Free minutes (sign-up minutes, referral rewards and any future bonus minutes) expire, cannot be exchanged for money and cannot be transferred. Minutes you buy do not expire. Minutes that expire are used first.
You may not sell your referral code or use it to get around in-app purchase. Do not promote it by spam, mass messages, pretending to be someone else, or misleading claims. When you share, make clear that you also get a reward; the message the app writes for you says so, and if you rewrite it, keep that.
Each phone number and each device counts only once; referrals between the same number or device do not count; virtual numbers do not count. If we find abuse, or a reward that should not have been given (for example, after a refund), we may take back the minutes and end your use of referrals.
We may change or end the referral program; we will say so in the app ahead of time. Minutes already given can still be used, or expire, under the rules that applied when they were given.
Translations can be wrong
Speech recognition and AI translation make mistakes. Words can be missed, misheard or translated wrong.
For anything important, such as medicine doses, dates, times, money amounts, addresses and numbers, ask the other side to repeat it, and check the captions.
Do not rely on MeiSheng Call alone for medical, legal or money decisions.
Photo Translate can also misread or mistranslate. For now it does not translate lab results or medication instructions; ask your doctor or pharmacist, who can arrange a free interpreter for you.
Your account and your data
MeiSheng Call uses your Meisheng Account. Keep your sign-in information safe.
In the app you can delete one call, your MeiSheng Call data, or your whole Meisheng Account. See our Privacy Policy.
Deleting your MeiSheng Call data removes your content only; your minute balance, history and referrals stay with your account.
Before you delete your whole Meisheng Account, if you have unused minutes you bought, you can keep them, ask Apple for a refund, ask us for a refund of the unused share, or give them up. If you ask us for a refund, we first confirm it's you with your phone number. Once you submit, your account is deleted right away and the request can't be withdrawn; the refund is still processed. We pay only you, by Zelle or mailed check, and reply within 30 days to the email you give. The refund is based on the minutes left when you submit, at the price of each purchase; promotional minutes are not refunded. We decline only if Apple has already refunded that purchase, we can't find that purchase, or there are signs of fraud (for example, the same purchase requested twice), and we'll tell you why. If your account isn't actually deleted after you submit (for example, you don't finish the last confirmation step), the request is cancelled after 24 hours and the payment details and email you gave are deleted. If you have only minutes restored by support, you can keep them or give them up. Minutes you give up are forfeited and have no cash value. If you delete your account in another Meisheng app, you must first take care of unused minutes in MeiSheng Call.
Ending your use
You can stop using MeiSheng Call at any time.
We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if we need to protect other people or our service, or if the law requires it.
Disclaimers
We provide MeiSheng Call "as is" and "as available." We do not promise that every call will connect, that the app will always work, or that translations will be correct. Some states do not allow some of these disclaimers. Where that is so, they apply only as far as the law allows.
Limit of liability
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, special, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost profits or lost data.
As far as the law allows, our total liability for all claims about MeiSheng Call is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for MeiSheng Call in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) US $100.
These limits do not apply to our fraud, willful injury, gross negligence or violations of law, or to death or personal injury caused by our negligence. Nothing in these terms limits any right that the law does not allow to be limited.
Claims caused by your breaking the rules
If someone makes a claim against us because you broke the Rules above (for example, by using MeiSheng Call for marketing calls or harassment), you agree to pay our reasonable costs from that claim, including reasonable lawyers' fees. This does not cover claims about how we designed MeiSheng Call, our opening message, our number checks, or how we handle data. Those are our responsibility.
Disputes
California law governs these terms, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
Either of us may bring a claim in small claims court if it qualifies.
Any other dispute will be decided by the state courts in San Bernardino County, California, or by the federal court for that county (the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California). You and we agree that these courts have jurisdiction.
These terms do not contain an arbitration agreement.

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for MeiSheng Call and its content.
Apple has no duty to provide maintenance or support for MeiSheng Call.
If MeiSheng Call does not meet a warranty that applies, you may tell Apple, and Apple may refund the price you paid (MeiSheng Call is free). As far as the law allows, Apple has no other warranty duty for the app.
Apple is not responsible for claims about MeiSheng Call, including product liability claims, claims that it does not meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and consumer protection or privacy claims.
Apple is not responsible for claims that MeiSheng Call infringes someone's intellectual property.
You confirm that you are not in a country under a U.S. government embargo and are not on a U.S. government list of restricted parties.
You must also follow the App Store's usage rules.
Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Language
These terms are offered in English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese for Taiwan and for Hong Kong. The Chinese versions are translations provided for convenience. If they differ from the English version, the English version controls.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we will update this page and the effective date above, and we will tell you in the app before an important change takes effect. If you keep using MeiSheng Call after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.
